i've spent most of my life avoiding grapefruits.
i thought they were too sour,
and too unsubstantial for a girl
who likes a good "eggs & toast" breakfast every morning.
but dante insisted on buying some
and they filled our kitchen with an intoxicating fresh scent.
and i ate one.
and now i am addicted.
our grapefruits are deliciously tart,
fresh and juicy,
and perfect for my changing appetite,
which has recently been wanting much less food
during the early morning hours.
today i'm eating our last one,
i guess i'll have to buy some more for next week!
enjoy your weekend,
LOVE LOVE LOVE grapefruit
ReplyDeleteI've had my apprehension about grapefruit as well, yet to convert though. :-)
ReplyDeleteooo i love grapefruits! i haven't had one in so long... i think i'll go buy some now! have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI love how things we hated when we were younger we like more later ... I used to despise orange juice but now I actually like it! Still not a huge fan of grapefruit though, hehe.
ReplyDeleteHope you have an amazing weekend :)
I get grapefruits from Pittman and Davis. I love their Ruby Red grapefruits. http://www.pittmandavis.com
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if they ship out of the U.S., but they are well worth the cost. They are sweet instead of tart and bitter. If there are people that are not grapefruit fans, try ruby reds or maybe sprinkle some sugar on your grapefruit to take the tart/bitter taste out. :)
oh my gosh i LOVE grapefruit. my uncle sent our family a huge package of them for christmas. i'm pretty sure they were gone in 3 days.
ReplyDeletesooo good. i think i'm going to get one now.
I'm not a fan of grapefruit, too tart for my liking. But it has been awhile, so maybe your post will convince me to try again.
ReplyDeleteBoo, I can't eat grapefruit because they're too acidic for me (I get these little ulcers in my mouth that are incredibly painful). It's a shame because I love how they taste! :(
ReplyDeletehooray for grape fruits! i love em!
ReplyDeletesprinkle a little splenda on top and i'm a happy gal! its delicious!

thanks for the lovely comment! haha funniest thing. I spent most of my life avoiding grapefruits as well! I always thought they were too sour until a guy changed my mind on this one and peeled a grapefruit for me. It's funny how when you grow up and start liking the things you never liked before.
ReplyDeletemmm love grapefruits! happy weekend
ReplyDeleteI used to think the same thing and haven't given them a chance in a long time! Think I need to rethink that. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog. You are so adorable. I'll be back here soon I'm sure!
I'm guilty of sprinkling sugar on mine, but love them just the same.
ReplyDeleteGrapefruits are the bombsauce! My appetites and food cravings have been changing lately as well - I used to be the kid that spat her broccoli out into her napkin when her mother wasn't looking but now I'm an absolute broccoli fool. The body wants what it wants, I guess.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! Yours is gorgeous! :)

ReplyDeleteAhh, I haven't had a grapefruit in a while, you've inspire me!
ReplyDeleteI went on a big grapefruit kick a while back, and I still love it. Unfortunately, my teeth are hyper sensitive and start to hurt if I have too much citrus too often! Overall, though, it's a highly underrated fruit!
ReplyDeleteI have the best grapefruit smelling candles! Sounds a bit off but they smell so delish!
ReplyDeleteI just signed up to follow you, hope you'll follow me-heh :)
And how beautiful is your setup I'm completely loving your blog!!!
Thanks for the comment, it was amusing trying to watch my husband figure the bunny chair cover out :) I love grapefruits too!! I've also heard they are en excellent diet fruit, so I guess I should go and get some too!
ReplyDeleteI just got into grapefruit -- right before heading back to college. It's a lot harder to procure them here, unfortunately. Can't wait for spring break/summer so I can eat some more. Until then, I'm rocking my grapefruit lip balm like it's my job.
ReplyDeleteIt's my first time on your blog and I'm literally in love with it. Can't wait for more!

wow i better ask fro grapefruit when i do the groceries then :D
ReplyDeleteso grapefruit=skinnies?!
ReplyDeleteomg! i love grapefruit! in high school for a while i'd take one for luch everyday, and peal it. its really messy when you peel it. but i like 'em better that way. The texas grapefruits were always sweet. but if you get one thats too tart, a lil sugar fixes that.
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by my blog. cant wait to hear how your valentines goes.
Glad I have found your blog! I heart grapefruits!!! AND . . . ok I'm turnign into a total health freak but it is great to eat in the morning b/c it helps jump start your metabolism and helps reduce belly fat. Just sayin! :-)
